Banco Santander will build a 41-story office tower in Miami, Florida, that will be called Santander Tower and will be located at 1401 Brickell Avenue in the city's financial center. It will serve as a landmark for the area and replace the existing 14-story building, which will start demolition in the next few weeks.
Santander Private Banking has a long-established presence in the city, where it operates as a hub providing best-in-class services for global private banking clients for more than 40 years. The Miami market remains a key connection point between North America, Latin America and Europe, and Santander remains committed to having a presence in this international technology and financial hub.
The Santander Tower is expected to have 1.6 million square feet (approximately 150,000 square meters), with about half being dedicated to offices space and the remainder to retail space, parking, and other common areas. Santander employees located in Miami will occupy part of the office space, with the remaining space occupied by third-party tenants.
The new tower, designed by Handel Architects and Bernardi & Peschard Arquitectura, will be approximately 765-feet high (233 meters) and feature prime office space with bay views, terraces with integrated gardens, daycare or an urban club, as well as a distinctive crown that will enhance the Miami skyline. The project, which will be coordinated by Rilea Group, will adhere to the highest international standards for sustainable construction and will incorporate the latest technology in terms of security, connectivity, and energy efficiency.
The Santander employees working at the current building, including over 650 people from Santander Private Banking and other areas, will move to temporary office space on Brickell Avenue and in the Santander’s Coconut Grove office during the construction period. The project is expected to be completed over the next several years.
