The prominent Institutional Investor magazine recently published its annual All-Europe Executive Team ranking for 2020, placing Group CEO José Antonio Álvarez, Group CFO Jose García Cantera and our shareholder and investor relations team, directed by  Sergio Gámez, amongst the best in the sector. 

Institutional Investor's ranking recognises the ‘Most Honoured Companies’ and top executives in Europe based on the opinions of more than 1,000 investment professionals. 

Santander and its managers lead the banking sector ranking:

• The market has again recognised the work of Group CEO José Antonio Álvarez, who remains amongst the top three in this year’s Best CEOs category.
• Group CFO Jose García Cantera is an eminence to investors and has been ranked no. 2 in the Best CFOs category. 
• Analysts and investors agree that the group's shareholder and investor relations team, headed up by Sergio Gámez, is the best out of all European banks (Best IR Team category). 
• Our Investor Day 2019 was also deemed the best in the sector in Europe.

These awards assess such factors as the quality and speed of information released to the market, roadshows and corporate reports.

According to Gámez: ‘We are proud of our position in such a prestigious ranking, especially since the results had been collected in the first half of the year, in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic that forced us to reshape our relationship with the market entirely. It speaks to the work done by our people and to the market’s confidence in the group's strategy, shareholder and investor relations and communications programme.’
