As part of our commitment to protecting people’s digital privacy and security, we continue to bring cybersecurity closer to customers and non-customers. Recently, we carried out a pilot program focused on raising awareness and enhancing accessibility in branches within our global Santander Work Café network.
In an ever-changing digital world, cybercriminals consistently attempt to breach our security systems, requiring us to be prepared and know how to identify and respond to the latest threats, regardless of where they originate or the channel criminals choose to interact with us.
On this occasion, we developed a pilot program in the innovative Santander Work Café spaces in Madrid (Spain) and London (United Kingdom). Our cybersecurity experts participated in different sessions to answer questions and provide advice to visitors.
With the rise of phone theft in London, many conversations were centered around remote tracking and remote wiping tools, activating controls such as biometrics, and sharing precautions for device use in public places. In Madrid, the sessions focused on safe online shopping, and in the case of the older participants, on the security features available on our app and online banking.
Additionally, we held face-to-face talks to raise awareness about common social engineering techniques and fraud. We presented some of our tools available for users to protect themselves, such as Santander Key, which guarantees the security of online operations through multifactor authentication, the app’s features for managing payment limits and blocking certain types of transactions, and Cyber Guardian, Santander’s platform that enables small and medium-sized enterprises to protect their business from all kinds from cyber threats.
The program received positive feedback from the attendees, who appreciated the accessibility of the experts and clarity of the information shared. Our cybersecurity colleagues also valued the opportunity to listen and help visitors directly.
Work Café spaces, Santander’s innovative branch concept that brings together free co-working spaces, a neighborhood café, and banking, create a unique environment for connecting with our visitors.
The collaborative spaces are open to everyone, customers and non-customers alike, and are present in key cities around the world such as New York, São Paulo or Mexico City. Work Café’s give us an opportunity to expand this cybersecurity program to other countries where we operate and bring our experts closer to anyone seeking to improve their online security.
Through these forums we aim to address a universal need: Digital security, so that everyone can feel informed and protected.
