Director of Regulation, Central Bank of Brazil
Silvia Marques is the Director of Financial Regulation at the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) and coordinates studies on financial regulation, customer protection, financial products and services, accounting, auditing, corporate governance, and risk management of financial institutions.
Her duties also include leading the projects that results in proposals of financial regulation that are forward to the Board of Directors or to the National Monetary Council for deliberation.
She is a certified accountant and concluded her master degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 2002.
Mrs. Marques joined the Central Bank in 1994. She has coordinated many important projects, including IFRS convergence, loan loss provisioning, auditing requirements, internal controls reviews and reports, financial statements, and disclosure requirements. She also participated in the project that resulted in the financial regulation on environmental and social policies and risk management.
From 2012 to 2014, Silvia led the internal audit function at the Central Bank of Brazil as the Chief Internal Auditor.
She has also represented the Central Bank in domestic and international groups and forums on financial regulation and auditing.
In Addition, she has some experience as a lecturer in some postgraduate courses running by Fundacao Getulio Vargas (FGV) in Brasilia.
