The need to monitor the non-bank financial intermediation ecosystem (NBFI) which comprises a diverse range of largely unregulated investment and funding markets was a key theme in this panel. “The NBFI is a growing part of the financial system, even larger than the banking system if you look at the global level. What we really have to focus on is non-banks perhaps taking on bank-like risks,” said Knot.
