Santander has once again been recognised by the prestigious IR Magazine with awards for Best Annual Report (large cap) and Best Use of Multimedia for Investor Relations, which highlight excellence in investor relations and reporting. These awards, handed out last Thursday in London, are held in high regard in the sector, with European analysts and investors themselves who vote and choose the best practices in this field.
Madrid, 26 June 2023.
The prestigious financial publication IR Magazine held a new edition of its awards ceremony on 22 June in London. The recognitions are regarded as a benchmark in the sector since 1999, rewarding excellence and best practices in the field of investor relations, as well as in terms of the information and communication that different entities offer the market. The awards are based on voting by financial analysts and institutional investors in Europe.
Santander received accolades in the Best Annual Report and Best Use of Multimedia for Investor Relations categories. Santander was shortlisted in another four categories: Best Overall Investor Relations, Best Investor Relations Officer (with Begoña Morenés, Carlos Berastain and Fernando Donoso receiving nominations), Investor Relations Rising Star (Gerardo Maya) and Best Innovation in Shareholder Communications.
For a second year in a row, Santander brought home the award for Best Annual Report, which assesses the content and innovation, as regards presentation to the market, of the Bank's results, strategy, key messages, and information. This is recognition of our commitment to transparency and quality of information, and to offering digital and interactive formats that best respond to the information needs of the market.
The Best Use of Multimedia for IR award bears witness to Santander's ability to use different multimedia tools developed by the Group to facilitate the work of analysts and the investor community. The aim is for such individuals to be able to find the information that they need easily and quickly in a digital environment that is increasingly intuitive and focused on the needs of users. This recognition is particularly relevant in a year in which Santander held an Investor Day, where the Group made public its growth plan for the period 2023-2025.
In addition, in the categories where the Bank is shortlisted, the Investor Relations team was recognised as one of the best in Europe, and a spotlight was shone on Begoña Morenés, Carlos Berastain, Fernando Donoso and Gerardo Maya.
The prizes are a recognition to the Group’s collaboration strategy and the great teamwork of Santander’s various global areas, including Financial Management, Investor Relations, the General Secretariat, Legal, Human Resources, Responsible Banking, Risk, Compliance, Communication and Marketing, and the Executive Chairman's Office.
Begoña Morenés, global head of Investor Relations, said, "these prestigious awards are a huge recognition for the entire Investor Relations team and make us even more committed to achieving excellence and generating value for our shareholders. Congratulations to my entire team – your professionalism, dedication and extraordinary teamwork have made these accolades possible.
I also want to highlight the support and participation of senior management, which is fundamental to our work and to instilling market confidence. And, of course, I would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to all the teams and people at the Bank who have contributed and helped in these achievements. Behind these awards is a great deal of effort and coordination, and it's thanks to that great teamwork that the market perceives us to be the best."
