Santander Chile supplies technological equipment to the pupils of schools and colleges in vulnerable areas to enable them to connect to classes so that their learning and socialisation process is not interrupted.
Education, one of the main levers for contributing to the progress of people, has faced one of the biggest challenges imaginable in recent months: ensuring that students and teachers can remain in contact despite mobility and lockdown restrictions in the context of the pandemic.
This is why Santander Chile has stepped up its efforts to provide technological equipment to the pupils of schools and colleges in vulnerable areas that enables them to connect to classes and remain in contact with their friends and teachers so that their learning and socialisation process is not interrupted.

One of the most recent initiatives was the delivery of 84 tablets to Colegio San Juan de Lampa, which belongs to the Astoreca Foundation, and of 40 computers to SOS Children's Villages Chile along with academic scholarships to support young people in their higher education studies. The provision of these devices will enable boys, girls and young people of various ages to continue learning remotely. This equipment is in addition to the more than 1,200 mobile devices, computers, tablets and items of furniture for study, such as chairs and desks, supplied in the first half of 2021 to 17 institutions including foundations, schools and fire brigades.
"The health crisis has taken a severe toll on education, which plays a key role in people's progress. This is why we are happy to work with the Astoreca Foundation and SOS Children's Villages Chile to ensure that boys and girls can have the tools they require to keep up with school work and remain in contact with their friends and teachers", said Gonzalo Rodríguez, head of Responsible Banking at Santander Chile.
