More than 1.3 million Getnet card machines operating with QR codes are now ready to receive direct payments from the Social Digital Fund

São Paulo, 28 May 2020 -
Getnet, Santander group's technology firm specialising in digital payment solutions has announced that more than 1.3 million of the company's card machines, equipped with QR code readers, can now accept virtual debit card payments, available via the Caixa Tem app.

Unregistered workers, individual microentrepreneurs, the self-employed and the unemployed who have signed up and received the emergency aid of BRL 600 can use this benefit to pay for their shopping via Getnet's card machines, thanks to their QR code payment function. A different security code is generated for each purchase to prevent fraud.

In addition to the ability to make payments at physical establishments, all customers using Getnet's e-commerce solution for online sales will be able to process payments using this emergency aid.

“Getnet is committed to a multichannel approach to provide digital and physical solutions that make it possible to include all types of terminals. We can respond to customers' needs across all segments. At these times, it is important that society supports those in need of help. As part of these initiatives, we aim to help small businesses ward off a drop in sales, in addition to simplifying things for the end consumer", explained Pedro Coutinho, Getnet's CEO.

In addition to facilitating transactions, payment via QR code will also facilitate a shift in people's behaviour, as they seek ways to avoid coming into contact with physical money and cards. "The use of contactless payment systems has grown over the past year, but given the current situation, the trend has skyrocketed, as by using their mobile phone or virtual card, customers can complete transactions touch-free, enhancing safety for all parties", Coutinho added.
