Santiago 21 March 2020.- Banco Santander reports that one of its employees, who works at the Temuco Plaza Pyme branch, has tested positive for covid-19. They are currently in quarantine, receiving treatment and in doing well.
Upon receiving this news the Bank immediately activated the appropriate protocol. The branch has been closed temporarily and disinfected while all staff have been asked to self-isolate at home.
Work is also ongoing to trace all people who may have come into contact with this employee to alert them so they can take the necessary preventative measures.
Since the first cases of the virus were detected in Chile, the bank has been monitoring its spread and implemented all necessary protocols to limit the risk of infection. These include precautionary measures such as distributing hand sanitiser, gloves and face masks to employees; asking many of its central services employees to work from home; introducing preventative quarantine across its branch network and contact centers; restricting international business travel; cancelling large meetings; keeping its people regularly informed of the measures adopted and the recommendations in place; asking any employees in the high-risk category or who have symptoms to stay at home; and requesting that employees notify the bank if they been in contact with someone with the disease.
Santander Chile is working closely with the health authorities to handle this situation and is adopting all the necessary measures to ensure its people, families and customers are safe.
